Getting to know the bigger picture of how our customers operate their business lights a fire in the inspiration of our work. In September, we flew our Thai team member Piyarach Maungdee (Tum) out to our offices in Stavanger, Norway to talk directly with our clients about his work on engineering tools in an owner operator.

Tum’s current project is with an Owner Operator of a mega smelting plant, and is specifically responsible for updating their data. Based on the current Engineering Numbering System (ENS), he’s sifting through their asset register, and joining silos of data into a joined digital twin.

Combining talents and cultures

Of course, we’re not just about delivering the best digital transformation in the industry – we also like to have a good time. Our Thai team had never been to Norway before, and since we were blessed with exceptionally good weather in Stavanger, we made sure to give our team a warm Norwegian welcome.

Tum and our Thai visitors all got to experience a Nordic sauna for the first time, including the traditional dip in the icy ocean – something that Tum finds particularly memorable, having only ever experienced Japanese-style saunas.

Our Norwegian team also took our Thai colleagues on a visit to a factory where traditional fermented “asian” fish sauce is produced from Norwegian salmon, and a lovely cruise trip to see Norway’s famous fjords. We also had a small expeditionary team take on a gentle hike to Preikestolen and the famous Pulpit Rock.

Whether it’s combining talents to drive digital transformation for owner operators and companies in any industry, or bringing the cultures of our different teams together, we love seeing our people thrive together and achieve great things. At Draga, being a people-forward company means there’s no peak we can’t reach.
